Real racing feeling in the BMW M2 Cup racing car at BILSTER BERG
The mobility of the future is shaped by motorsport. So it stands to reason that a company like Provinzial insurance would like to offer its customers and partners a very special experience that combines technology and innovation along with emotion…
That’s why more than 40 invited guests came to the BILSTER BERG in October 2021 to take a look behind the scenes of motorsport.
The Provinzial insurance company organised an event with a professional motorsport feeling with original racing cars. For the participants, 12 BMW M2 CS RACING vehicles were available, which can normally be seen in the BMW M2 CUP as part of the top-class DTM. These 365 hp vehicles offer real racing feeling, paired with convincing performance from the powerful in-line six-cylinder with TwinPower turbo technology.
After the welcome, the participants put on their racing suits and received an introduction to the vehicles. Then it was straight onto the driving dynamics area and, of course, onto the race track. The two instructors and racing drivers David Kolkmann and Louis Henkefend gave the drivers tips and tricks on the racing vehicle and the race track. Following the section and ideal line training, there were exercises on braking and swerving and finally a guided drive on the circuit. In this way, the participants got a constantly improving feeling for vehicle control. “Experiencing a real racing car live and driving it yourself is really something special. On top of that, to receive live coaching over the radio from a professional racing driver, who is the incumbent overall winner of the BMW M2 Cup, then tops it all.” This is how Anselm Gerighausen, Head of Exclusive Sales West, described it with enthusiasm.
Even the bad weather with storm and rain did not dampen the enthusiasm of the participants. And after the track had completely dried up, the amateur drivers were even able to sit next to the instructors as co-drivers. “At this point, the amazement is usually the greatest, as one’s own ideal line then deviates extremely from that of the racer,” Jörg Michaelis, promoter of the BMW M2 CUPS and organiser of this event at the BILSTER BERG, noted with a grin on his face.
In addition to their own performance and insights into professional motorsport, there was also plenty of time for culinary delights. Whether it was lunch, a coffee break, the evening event or simply the end of the day at the hotel bar – there was always enough time to talk shop and exchange ideas.
With impressions that will surely stay with them for a long time and with a smile on their faces, the guests returned to reality the next morning. We are sure that we will see many of the participants soon again at the BILSTER BERG.
